Pourquoi faire une halte à Emanville ?
Au centre du village vous découvrirez de belles bâtisses typiques, telles la mairie-école et plusieurs maisons de maître. La grande mare et son lavoir sont également de bons arguments pour s’arrêter faire une pause dans le village.
Près de l’église, vous pourrez observer l’ancien presbytère où se trouve un splendide colombier circulaire (propriété privé).
En vous promenant plus au sud de la commune, le haras de Couillerville et son manoir, ses dépendances et sa piste d’entraînement, sont visibles depuis la route.

In the centre of the village you will find beautiful typical buildings, such as the town hall/school and several mansions. The large pond and its wash house are also good arguments to stop for a break in the village.
Near the church, you can see the old presbytery with a splendid circular dovecote (privately owned).
If you walk further south in the village, the Couillerville stud farm with its manor house, outbuildings and training track can be seen from the road.

Un peu d’histoire :
Commune la plus au sud du territoire du Pays du Neubourg, Emanville est composée de 5 hameaux. L’histoire de la commune est assez mouvementée, avec plusieurs rattachements entre les hameaux.
Au hameau de Saint-Léger vous découvrirez une petite chapelle, l’église ayant été détruite au début du XIXème siècle. Saint-Léger s’appela Saint-Léger-les-Hospitaliers et Saint-Léger-de-Mesnilotte, à cause de sa situation près d’une commanderie de Malte et d’un fief de ce nom.
La Gouberge fut rattachée à Saint-Léger en 1842, et le tout fut rattaché à Emanville en 1845.
L’église Saint-Etienne était sous le patronage du chapitre d’Evreux, par don de Richard de Herford vers 1156, puis du seigneur du lieu au XVIème siècle.

Emanville is located the southernmost of all the communes of the Pays du Neubourg Territory and is made up of 5 hamlets. The history of the commune is quite eventful, with several attachments between the hamlets.
In the hamlet of Saint-Léger you will find a small chapel, the church having been destroyed at the beginning of the 19th century. Saint-Léger was called Saint-Léger-les-Hospitaliers and Saint-Léger-de-Mesnilotte, because of its location near a Maltese commandery and a fiefdom of that name.
La Gouberge was attached to Saint-Léger in 1842, and the whole was attached to Emanville in 1845.
The church of Saint-Etienne was under the patronage of the Evreux chapter, through a gift from Richard de Herford around 1156, and then from the local lord in the 16th century.
